ECAC OFFICIATING STANDARDS
Professionalism
Maintains officiating availability on the ECAC website in a timely manner.
Accepts game assignments/changes within two days of posting.
Maintains a year-round level of physical fitness for stamina and appearance.
Arrives at varsity game sites no later than 3 hours prior to scheduled kickoff.
Arrives at game site dressed in accordance with the ECAC Mechanics Manual.
While attending other athletic contests refrains from disparaging remarks which would bring discredit on the officiating community.
Rules Knowledge
Participates in off-season discussions with fellow officials to increase/maintain rules proficiency.
Completes all preseason, clinic and weekly in-season exams with a satisfactory rating.
Actively participates in pre-game discussions.
Ensures proper rules application and penalty enforcement by his crew during games.
Proper Mechanics
Maintains a current ECAC Mechanics Manual.
Refers to the ECAC Mechanics Manual in pre-game discussions.
Develops behaviors which make in-game positioning, signals and communications "second nature".
Positioning is consistent with ECAC Mechanics Manual.
Signals are consistent with ECAC Mechanics Manual.
Sideline and crew communication is consistent with ECAC Mechanics Manual.
Communication
Communication with coaching staffs is ALWAYS on a professional level.
Responds to all reasonable questions from the coaches and players in a professional manner.
Communication with players is ALWAYS on a professional level.
Communication with fellow officials during the contest is ALWAYS on a professional level.
Integrity
All actions/communications with the ECAC Supervisor of Officials is truthful and complete.
All actions/communications with schools is honest and forthright.
All financial dealings with the ECAC, member schools and other officials is honest and aboveboard.
Does not accept an officiating assignment that might be a "conflict of interest" unless the ECAC Supervisor is aware of the issue and has approved the assignment.
